Harmony uses the power of natural play to build each child’s creativity and problem-solving skills while fostering powerful, purposeful play. Our thoughtfully designed play spaces foster connection, discovery and natural learning. Our specialized Harmony Approach offers the perfect blend of play-based, emergent curriculum with the rhythms and expectations that make for a respectful learning environment. Self-constructed learning is valued to help children flourish into life-long inquisitive, independent and confident learners. There is an emphasis on outdoor experiences utilizing our discovery garden, large back yard space, and nature trail.  We are seeking two new team members to support our growing Center!


TITLE
Assistant Preschool Teacher


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a warm, nurturing learning environment for children age 3-5 years old through gentle introductions to learning and social play through our play-based classroom, proprietary Enchanted Storytelling Curriculum, and outdoor experiences.  

  • Understand and embrace The Harmony Approach and use this model as the foundation for your work with children and families.

  • Integrate into the staff team through observation, discussion and thoughtful participation in staff training and development. Willingly contribute to the team outside your own role as needed, in order to create a warm, caring, and supportive atmosphere for all staff members.

  • Utilize intentional observation to carefully document play-based learning for Harmony-wide parent education and curriculum development.

  • Set up, facilitate, and clean up programs according to the curriculum outlined by Harmony. No outside planning or preparation time is required.

REQUIRED COMMITMENT

  • Position is part-time; approximately 16 hrs per week.

  • Monday - Friday 9:15am - 12:15pm, September - June

  • Tues - Thurs 9:15am - 12:15pm, July & August

  • Team meetings two Tuesdays per month until 2:30pm.

Preschool Teacher

  • Active participation in curriculum planning and preparation in collaboration with Lead Preschool Teacher.  

REQUIRED COMMITMENT

  • Position is part-time.

  • September – June: Classroom hours are Monday - Friday 8:15am-1:00pm, plus planning/ curriculum prep time, as well as team meetings. 

  • July & August: Classroom hours are Tuesday – Thursday 8:15am -12:15pm.
